Fangin' Out

I went to my first Anime North Convention this weekend which basically consisted of panels, anime merch, fan art, overpriced everything and hot, no, SCORCHING weather. I was ready though, with my bottle of lukewarm in my back pocket, fangs out scraping into my bottom lip, overpriced contacts in and not a care in the world. Wouldn't have imagined getting to post cosplays on here but the simple fact is that all of 0 people asked to take my picture while there so I had to take matters into my own hands of course.

Yeah my outfit was simple, not flashy in the least and I'm sure people only knew who I was when I had my axe guitar out (guess who I am yet?) but I was proud of it and glad I was finally able to emulate one of my favourite characters and musicians in the cartoon world. I'll admit part of the reason I probably didn't get noticed is because I was not anime, whatsoever, so I shouldn't really have been that irked.

Me doing some illegal busking
I have to say Anime North was like a bigger and flashier version of Comic Con, though the merchandise was basically carbon copied from the latter, the panels were engaging and the cosplay's were inspiring. From big fur head-to-toe body suits to intricately swirling body art, I admired how con goers could make such huge commitments to their characters despite the fact that they could have passed out trying to get the perfect photo angle or have their toxic body art drip mercilessly into their delicate corneas.

Tank Top - Old Navy
Dress Shirt - Thrifted
Spent the rest of my day sweating, meeting up and then losing friends in crowds, singing my characters songs quite obnoxiously at one point (maybe busking a bit as well shhh) and counting my lucky stars I was too broke to buy anything more than overpriced candy.

Fangs - Dracula House

Busking is more fun without a crowd y'know?

Choker - Online
Boots - Doc Martens Store

Boyfriend Jeans - Jean Machine

Guitar - Hot Topic
Contacts - Neo Cosmo
Next, I shall most likely be gracing Fan Expo with my presence in September! If you ask me why I've never gone to con's before this year it's probably because I know different people now, those who publicly show their love for the hobbies I've only known how to enjoy on my own. It doesn't seem that way since I've mentioned the events in almost every post up until now but I've always been a pretty introverted person.
I went back to Anime North the day after this with only an idea of what I wanted my next outfit to be but let me tell you, people definitely noticed this time. I was very pleased with how it turned out but mostly glad that I finally got to wear a pair of contacts that had been collecting dust for ages! (If you follow me on Instagram you probably already know what's up.) Get ready for my next post, it's really fun and I can't wait to share it with you guys soon!
